The Archangel’s Way Michaelmas Gathering 2023

Over 50 pilgrims gathered on the the 30th September to enjoy two pilgrimages, one long and one short, with Morris dancing from Winkleigh Morris Dancers and Dartmoor Border Morris, and local folk music from the brilliant Jim Causley.

“It was wonderful to be able to join in the 2nd annual Michaelmas gathering at Belstone. About 30 pilgrims and hikers from across the diocese joined together for a nine mile hike along part of the Archangel’s Way (stage 4A) from Belstone, via Sticklepath and South Zeal. It was truly breathtaking to be able to survey God’s amazing world from the vantage point of Cosden Beacon. Thanks to all those who organised the day and especial thanks to Paul who guided our holy wanderings. Same time next year anyone?”

“28 people, from as far away as Birmingham and the Isle of Wight, set out from St Mary’s Church, Belstone for a reflective walk in glorious sunshine. With the help of scripture, poetry, stillness and a little bit of history enabled by the views, flora and fauna, the ruggedness of the moor and the fast flowing River Taw, helped each one of us to reflect on the beauty of God’s creation. As the walk ended we were able to make new friends and share our thoughts and experiences.”
